Operant and Classical

Updated: Jul 8, 2021

Something I worked on recently with Sarah Stremming, dog trainer and podcaster.

Note: this is an earlier version of this infographic. The final version has no Skinner with Pavlov on his shoulder.

At some point in the near future, I will be positing my notes on the difference between Operant and Classical/Respondent Learning (via Dr. Susan Friedman's LLA course)

These are two very different learning processes - Operant and Respondent - but they are intertwined in real life and cannot be separated.

To be more nuanced - feelings don't get learned in Classical Conditioning. What is learned = NEW associations, pairings, triggers, elicitors for feelings.
